More updates

I need to get better at blogging. I have a flow worked out for getting better at writing, but I also need to translate that into publishing. Hopefully this is a new start and the trend will continue. It really helps that I can publish from my phone now that I’m using working copy. Anyways, here’s a bunch of random thoughts I’ve written down in the last several months.

The Word of 2026 is Habits. There are a lot of things I want to fix with my life and I think the best way to go about it is forming good habits. My goal is that every month I pick up a new habit while maintaining the old habits. The habit for January is going to be unplug, no headphones in unless I’m mowing the yard or snow blowing the driveway. I want to be more attentive and less addicted to my phone and iPad. This feels like the first step in doing this.

That was from January and now in May I can confirm that habits have been successful. I am using my headphones less, working on game dev more, getting better sleep, eating healthier, and now in May writing more. I’m not perfect at it, but that’s the point. It’s developing the habit, not setting a goal.

Album of the year is I Love My Computer by ninajirachi. There were a lot of great albums like Moisturizer by Wet Leg and Getting Killed by Geese, but I Love My Computer stayed with me for months. Every song rips and I regularly find myself living with this album on repeat. It’s a weird mix of nostalgia for the electronic music I listened to in college, but it’s also fresh and doesn’t feel like it’s just retreading old ground.

Looney Tunes was scored and animated to a time signature. This means that the jokes had to happen on a beat and brings to question if some aspects of music theory could be applied to comedy. That’s kinda neat.
