Stay-cation
Daycare was closed this week so plenty of time to get some much needed cleaning up done. I spent the last two nights working on the blog, specifically moving it back to github, making some style changes, and fixing a lot of the leftover weirdness from the jekyll to hugo migration I made in the winter. Additionally I took the liberty to tidy up my dotfiles, switch my colorscheme from Kanagawa to Rosepine, and generally fix a lot of things that were bothering me, but I never had time to fix.
This was all after I formatted my disc drive after getting it into a pretty bad state with Archlinux/KDE. I am not sure what I did, but every time I attempted to install KDE Plasma over Gnome I got some pretty nasty stability issues. Not really worth diving deeper since I don’t really give a shit, but it was surprising to have happen.
In tabletop news, I am making a pivot from hexmaps to grid. This makes it sound like I am some ambassador to hexagons or something. What is really driving this is the fact that I like to make hand drawn maps in my notebook and I can draw squares easier and faster than hexagons. This lead to some fun hacking of the Chain Stocking the Hex Map post from Prismatic Wasteland. I used this a few times and thought it was pretty cool, but with squares, I need to roll a d8 instead of a d6. This lead to me adding alignment and hybrid tiles. Alignment works like Good/Evil areas in Dwarf Fortress. Roll a d6 to get the actual tile and then roll another d6 to choose if it’s good, evil, or savage. For hybrid tiles, roll 2d6 and get creative with the results. I have yet to actually play test this, but I am excited nonetheless.
