Before I Forget
14 Oct 2025
It’s been a minute since i have made one of these and honestly it’s been due to the inconvenience. I am still working on ways to make blogging frictionless, but that has been proving challenging. Especially considering I am still trying to leverage Github pages as a static site. With that all said, it’s time to shake things up a bit. One of the hardest parts about blogging is working with a blank page. The possibilities are endless and overwhelming. To counter that, I’m going to try playing around with a gimmick that will hopefully get some of the creative juices flowing. This is a little derivative of Thorsten Ball’s Register Spill format so forgive me Thorsten. Anyways, before I forget:
“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.” -Essential Craftsman
I watched this video after I had already watch this dude comment on Korean carpentry and this quote nestled itself pretty deep into my mind. I’ve been trying to improve my typing speed, specifically with numbers and symbols, and just slowing down to make sure I accurately hit the keys has made a real improvement. I’m now averaging around 50 WPM with no mistakes.
New Compiler Beta: Jai beta 0.2.018, 11 October 2025
Jai has been such a breath of fresh air. I still love Go, but the number of times I have tried to do something new like deterministic simulation testing, and discovered that Go just does not support that makes me sad. Jai is like Go with the gloves off. You can still very easily produce code in a way that is fun and relaxing, but when push comes to shove Jai will let you get your hands dirty with assembly, memory management, and more.
Death to Chronos
With Silksong done and at 100% completion (I am not doing Steel Soul) it’s time to start the other masterpiece that dropped, Hades II. I am maybe 5 runs into the game and already loving it more than the first. It is unfortunate that I did not get the full ending from the first game so I am a little lost in regards to the plot, but I think that’s alright.
I am not a carpenter, but there will be a wall.
We originally reached out to a family friend to help build us a wall for our garage. This was meant to be done in April and it is now October. Because of this I am going to be building the wall with the help of my father. It’s mildly intimidating but it just needs to be done.
Forbidden Lands
After running a game of Mythic Bastionland I am going to start running regular games again starting with Forbidden Lands. Still getting through the rules and while it’s not very complicated some systems seem clunkier than they need to be. The 3 dice pools is already weird but then having skill dice work differently with failures just feels unnecessary and over-designed. Who knows, maybe it makes sense and works out.
